I took a break during the holidays and it was great to get off track and not worry about writing a blog, posting to instagram, or creating something for my business FB page. Instead, I visited with friends and family. I cooked family favorites and carried out traditions that have been handed down from generation to generation. I relaxed, sat by the fire, read books, feasted on too many turkey sandwiches and pieces of pumpkin pie. I enjoyed the festivities for the holidays and hiked up to the Boulder Star. I reflected on year's past and planned for future holidays. I scheduled activities for everyone and participated in the video we created of a SNL parody. I laughed, I slept, I shared secrets with my sisters and I loved every minute of the holiday, doing nothing towards my business. And it was okay.
Come Monday, I will get back to the business of my business. It's time. Fortunately, I love what I do and it really doesn't feel like work. But no matter, every business can benefit from a break. It gives new perspective. It makes room for new ideas and creations. It makes everything feel new and fresh. So give me a break, or rather give yourself a break. Your business will thank-you for it.
