I’ve Always Wanted to Go

I’ve always wanted to go to Round Top, TX but was afraid it would be TOO overwhelming, so I didn’t go, until….. my friend Jeanne Oliver, who knows all the best spots, is organized in a way I could never be, offered a retreat where everything was taken care of except the decision of what to buy! It was right up my alley and I signed up right away!

Now for those of you who don’t know, Round Top, TX has a population of 85, but a couple of times a year they host the most popular antique market in the nation, drawing thousands of people daily that peruse the 12 mile stretch of tents housing antiques, art, hats, clothes and every other imaginable item you might want during the two week run of the show.  Round top just celebrated its 50th anniversary and I was here for it.

The retreat I attended had a most fabulous itinerary that included transportation to the best spots for antiquing, guidance on how to shop and ship items back, attending delicious cocktail parties and fabulous dinners, and art lessons from none other than my good friend Jeanne Oliver.  The fact that we slept in the most beautiful accommodations at the Vintage Round Top https://www.thevintageroundtop.com owned by Paige and Smoot did not go unnoticed. And although I LOVED everything, I think the best part was the incredible creative, lovely, soul sister women I met. I will carry them in my heart for all time.  

I did pick up a few pieces, a bread board, a hat, a charm for my hat, a few large antique paint brushes, a couple of cool t-shirts and other small items for my home. Unfortunately, they are scattered all over the house and if I wait until I can photograph them this blog will never get posted. However, see if you can spot them when I post my stories from time to time.

I went to Austin before Round Top and hung out with my good friend Caren Magill who is a ADHD coach. It’s been a minute since the last time I was there, but Caren took me to all the cool spots (sorry, I can’t remember them all right now) and I took her to Soho house Austin where we learned the art of making cocktails. We had a great time and I can’t wait to go back!
