I DIDN'T HAVE A LOVER

I DIDN’T HAVE A LOVER

I didn’t have a lover to leave, but when the song “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover” by Paul Simon came out in 1975, I sang right along with full gusto to the melodic and catchy lyrics.

For those of you that don’t know the song, here are a few lines to get you started. You’ll be hooked and fortunately or not, the song will be stuck in your head. Sorry.

The problem is all inside your head, she said to me
The answer is easy if you take it logically
I'd like to help you in your struggle to be free
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover

She said, it's really not my habit to intrude
Furthermore, I hope my meaning won't be lost or misconstrued
But I'll repeat myself at the risk of being crude
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover

You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

AND, get yourself free….

Such an important message, “get yourself free .“ It’s what I recommend with a couple of creative suggestions to everyone when it’s come to being fearful or stuck.

But….in case you haven’t noticed, for the last 10 months you haven’t gotten a newsletter from me because I’ve been stuck and yes, fearful and unsure if I even had anything valuable or interesting to say.

But then, as I was driving along on the 405 listening to the radio, this song “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover” played on the radio and I had an epiphany right there!! I literally had to pull over, overcome with the answer pounding in my chest, and of course I sang my heart out through the end of the song! There are at least 50 ways to get unstuck and get over this unrealistic fear.  If you are struggling with this too, feel free to download my list of 50 ways to get unstuck attached below.
