Spring Cleaning in Autumn

When we bought our house last year, we enrolled in the developer’s yearly manintenace program. We’ve never been a part of something like that, and I actually kind of forgot about it, until now. The crew came in this week and did a thorough job checking to make sure everything was running correctly, power washing the house, cleaning the windows, changing out the filters, oiling all the cabinets, fixing things that were broken, and other things not really worth mentioning, but all important to make sure the house stays in great shape for another year.

Wow, we have been the family that changed the batteries on the smoke alarm when it starts beeping and replaces a filter when it is no longer effective, but watching this maintenace program in action gave me a real ahha moment. Why aren’t we all doing that in our homes, in our businesses and in our personal lives?! Taking stock, fixing anything that is broken, employing preventative measures, doing a little self-care, and checking to make sure everything is running smoothly like a well-oiled machine. The saying “What you do today will shape how you live tommorow” seems to sum up the moment.

What that means for me is cleaning out old paints, paintings, and supplies that no longer line up with what I want to create, focusing on projects that stir my soul and speak to my joy, hanging out with positive people that elevate my life, trying new things, trusting and believing in myself, continuing to learn and taking care of my mental and physical health.

Will you join me in starting your maintenence program today ? I think we can move mountains and I can’t wait to be on this journey with you!!

xo, jan
